Well, I can blame my mother for this one.

Fridoay morning found a small, half-grown kitten on the back stoop, mewing piteously. He scampered away before I took off to work and was back again after I got home that night. Mom evidently let him in, gave him some food and water, then placed him back outside. Saturday morning found him on the stoop again, but we went to Denton as usual and he wasn't there when we got home that afternoon. He showed up later that afternoon and I took out a small bowl of food and water, which he inhaled. I went to the haunted house that evening and he wasn't around when I got back, but half an hour later we heard the sort of sounds that usually preclude one cat telling another that they were about to tear that cat apart. I went out and by the time I got there, no cats. Five minutes later, same thing when mom investigated, but she did find the little fellow and brought him in for the night.

Yeah, he's still here.

He's a gray little guy, with a faint white blaze between his eyes, a white tipped nose, white mittens on his forepaws, white stockings on the hind legs, with amber, almost orange eyes. He's also has a white stripe that starts at his mouth, down to a white bib, and down the length of his belly. He's also now rocking a black collar with a bell due to us almost stepping on him and...well, kitten chow and his own bowls. *sigh* I swear, we have 'Sucker' written on our foreheads that only cats see.

My two cats don't seem to care one way or another, but mom's psycho kitty let her displeasure known quite vocally. We've made up some fliers to put around the neighborhood, but I'm afraid for the little guy since it's almost Halloween and the crazies who like to kill black and gray kitties come out of the woodwork, so we may wind up keeping him after all. So far we're calling him 'Tucker', due to how much he puts away...that, or Stinkpot. Yeah, he's a little gassy.
